Yay! Dentrix has added a feature enhancement that has been on my most requested list for a long time. I am so excited to tell you all about it. But, before I do that, I wanted to take a minute and bring you all up to speed on the first three updates that have been released since the beginning of the year.
Just to recap, Dentrix has changed the way they label the version, so it is easier for all of us to see when it was released. Back in the day, I would have had to do a quick search to find out when a particular version was released. Now, however, it is very easy to see when it dropped to the office. For example, Dentrix 22.6 was the sixth release of 2022.
In February of this year, Dentrix released some updates to the new Signature Manager feature. For those of you who are not updated yet, the Signature Manager will open a window showing any clinical notes that are missing or unsigned. This is a significant enhancement for the entire team. Along with the Signature Manager window, they also added a Clinical Note count to the Appointment Book. This feature was later removed because of some technical issues.
The new Signature Manager will help the clinical team workflow by allowing you to scroll through a list to see what clinical notes are missing or need to be signed. You can also use this list to just double-check all the details because you can modify the clinical note right from this page. Your admin team will love it because, if they need to attach a clinical note to the insurance claim for payment, then they can easily see that it is done.
In March of this year, Dentrix 23.2 was released with some more improvements to the Signature Manager by adding more search and filtering capabilities to make it easier for you to view your missing or unsigned notes. This is a great help when you have a large clinical team and want to sort out the list.
The other feature enhancement in this release was a new text consent when using Quickbill. For those of you who know me, you know how much I love Quickbill. I think every office should be using Quickbill for billing statements and requests for payment. If you want to schedule a call with me, I can give you all the juicy details.
Then the best feature enhancement came in May of this year in Dentrix version 23.3. I have been asking for a procedure code word search for a long time … and it finally came to fruition in this version! You can now search for a code by using words instead of the ADA code when you are scheduling new treatment or adding treatment to the treatment plan. This is so helpful for new employees with no dental background or if you have “fake code” for products. I hope you all love it as much as I do.
Also in Dentrix 23.3, they added the clinical note count back in, but they now have it as optional. You can add it to the bottom of your Appointment Book by clicking on Options > Clinical Note Count to show a count by each day.
